Dataton Watchout

DATATON WATCHOUT V5 MULTI DISPLAY SOFTWARE

Dataton WATCHOUT combines multiple projectors, or other display devices, with standard computer and network technology to create breathtaking presentations of virtually any size. The production computer uses a familiar timeline interface to build the show. It then distributes the media files through the network to the display computers to run the show.

WATCHOUT utilizes the full resolution of all your projectors, monitors, video wall cubes or LEDs, resulting in unparallelled image quality. Arrange displays at any angle, shape or form. Overlapping projectors are automatically edge-blended. WATCHOUT accounts for the gap between displays and allows you to mix different pixel densities. The built-in mesh-warping geometry correction handles curved screens with ease.

Working with your current production tools, WATCHOUT reads most media file formats. Produce text and images in Photoshop. Create and edit video at any resolution in After Effects, Final Cut, or similar software. Mix multiple stereo or surround-sound audio files. WATCHOUT brings it all together, adding realtime effects such as motion paths, opacity, scaling, rotation, colorization, cropping and volume.

Integrate video fed live from a video camera. WATCHOUT accepts anything from composite and S-Video to 720 and 1080 HiDef using SDI inputs, all with the lowest possible latency. Likewise, you can bring a live PowerPoint presentation, or other computer feed, straight into your wide-screen presentation

Being a great team-player, WATCHOUT connects to touch panels such as Dataton TOUCHDOWN, and other control systems, using TCP/IP, SMPTE timecode or serial data connections. Use multiple display clusters at museums or other venues where independent display areas are needed. Built-in remote management functions let you interact with all computers from one location.

The Dataton PICKUP audio guide adds personalized audio playback to your WATCHOUT presentation. Perfect for use at museums and other locations where individual, wireless or multi-lingual audio is required. PICKUP provides high quality, audio playback for audio-guide applications, while also taking a cue from WATCHOUT for synchronized sound.

WATCHOUT scoops awards

Dataton WATCHOUT version 5 was launched at the Infocomm trade show in Orlando in June and immediately won the prestigious Media Server product category in the Commercial Integrator Awards. WATCHOUT was also recognized with an award for Best Show Control Product at the Infocomm/Rental and Staging New Product Awards. And at the 2011 LDI show for lighting and design professionals, WATCHOUT version 5 was the proud recipient of the LDI Projection Product Award.

Dataton's Sales Director, Michael Engström, attended the LDI awards ceremony in Orlando and commented: "It's always an honor to get this kind of industry recognition and it's a spur to keep on bringing great products to the market. The response to WATCHOUT version 5 has been fantastic – we have already seen some truly impressive shows using the new features. WATCHOUT users are always keen to push the bounds with new ideas, new ways of working, new ways of impressing the audience. We are proud that our product gives them the tools to really show off their creativity."

What makes WATCHOUT so special? The eagerly awaited new WATCHOUT version offers a whole host of outstanding new features including 3D effects and stage preview; stereoscopic playback; enhanced live interaction, and support for multi-head output cards, so that up to six displays can now be driven off one suitably equipped computer, all using a single WATCHOUT license. The new version has been showcased at industry events in the US, Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa and South America since its launch in June. And the response from producers and users has been a huge thumbs-up!

Fully scalable, software-based and requiring no proprietary hardware, Dataton WATCHOUT orchestrates still images, animations, graphics, video, sound and live feeds into a single impressive show across multiple display areas, either soft-edge blended or scattered. Version 5 takes this capability to a higher level meeting and surpassing the latest demands of event designers, systems integrators and end customers.
